HOT IN CHARLESTON

A 50-something writer and mother in one of the hottest (literally and figuratively) cities in the world offering wit and wisdom on motherhood, midlife, and menopause.

Hot in Charleston is a midlife community created to help women feel seen and supported in their life’s journey. On Instagram, at in-person events featuring physicians and writers, and in the media, Hot in Charleston helps women share stories and insights on the challenging in-between times of life that comprise our most complex transitions.

Whether as a marketing exec, essayist or ghostwriter, I’ve always been a storyteller. I created this community based on my own experiences in midlife — especially the perimenopause that upended my life and affected my body, mind and relationships.

— Holy City Sinner

As a woman, a writer, and the mother of a daughter, I’m fascinated that the hormonal shifts we experience come at a time of other ruptures, from aging and losing parents, to divorce, illness, career changes and the very empty nest. I’ve talked to health experts, writers and other women mining and facing experiences of loss, grief and identity. I remain convinced that hearing other people’s stories gives context to life’s magnificent beauty and inevitable ruptures — and helps women confront uncertainty, loss and new beginnings with wisdom, self-compassion and the support of their family and community.

I’m honored to have partnered with such leading experts, companies and nonprofits as Menopause Mandate, Flow Space, Alloy Health, The Memory Circle, The Jed Foundation, Postpartum Support, Mugs for Moms, Longevity Fitness and more.

Through Hot in Charleston and other creative partners, I’m proud to help foster these vital, national conversations.

This is the sisterhood of women, the power of storytelling.
